Name The Game – Competition

At the moment, the new Magic Knight game is just called MK5. That’s just a working title. Since we now have this internet thing that wasn’t around back when I wrote the earlier games we can have a bit of fun with naming the new game. That’s the important thing here… it’s a bit of fun, but I’ll have a few (relatively cheap) prizes for the best suggestions.

Rules

Unfortunately we need some rules

  1. Entries to be sent to DavidXJonesAuthor@gmail.com with the subject line MK5 Competition Entry
  2. If I get multiple suggestions of the same name then I’ll take the earliest entry
  3. I may disqualify anybody who spams that email address with anything unrelated to this competition
  4. Unless you include the words NO SUBSTACK in the body of your email I will assume you’re interested in signing up for my rare, but hopefully interesting, substack email feed. Note: If you’re not interested make sure you say NO SUBSTACK on every competition entry.
  5. Enter as many times as you like. Multiple suggestions (each on a different line please) are welcome for each entry. I’m hoping for some great suggestions.

Prizes

The new game will have a credits page so I’ll put the name or tag (unless it’s rude) of the winner on that, along with some runners up. I’ll do a few T-Shirts and keyring tags. The winner will get one of each of whatever I eventually decide the prizes are as well as a name mention.

Some thoughts about the name

MK5 is set in a remodelled version of the place where Spellbound took place. There’s no lift to change floors, but doors in the front and back layers of rooms will take the player to other parts of the mansion. The original Spellbound cast are back.

The game style will be very familiar to those of you who played Spellbound through to Stormbringer. The idea is that it’s a graphic adventure with elements of both text based adventures and platform style games. Playthroughs of the earlier games are on YouTube if you want a reminder of the style.

A good name will fit most (of not all) of these requirements

  • Fairly short and catchy
  • Unique enough to avoid showing some other game or product in a Google Search
  • Not rude
  • Be relevant to the theme of the game

This is a case of “I don’t know what I’m looking for, but I’ll recognise it when I see it.”

I’m not doing this competition because I can’t think of a suitable game name, I just thought ot would be fun to open it up to future players 🙂

Good Luck! I look forward to your suggestions
